For creators
Genres we're accepting
Theater1 is for finished movies and shows only. Pick the genre that fits your work. Right now we're only taking applications in the six genres below.
Budget and gear don't matter. The piece has to be done.

Genres open for applications
Documentary
True stories told as finished films or series — people, places, events, investigations. A complete piece someone can own and rewatch, not a pile of clips.
Fiction
Scripted stories: shorts, features, or seasons. Characters, plot, ending. Any budget is fine if the film is done.
Food
Films about cooking, restaurants, farming, and food culture. Story and craft first — not 60-second recipe tips.
Music
Concert films, artist documentaries, and music specials. Something an audience would buy to keep — not lyric videos or promo clips.
Builds & Craft
Films about making or fixing things: workshops, restorations, inventions, craft. Show the build and the finished result.
Ideas & Essays
Video essays and longform idea pieces: culture, film, history, how things work. Deep enough that people sit through the whole thing.

Not open for applications yet
We plan to add these genres when we have enough finished titles to fill a shelf. We'll announce when each one opens. Don't apply under these labels yet.
Comedy
Stand-up specials, sketch series, and comedy films made to watch start to finish — not skits cut for the feed.
Animation
Animated shorts, features, or series with a clear story. Hand-drawn, CG, stop-motion — the form is open; the work has to be finished.
Outdoors & Adventure
Expeditions, wilderness, travel with stakes — a trip or challenge told as a complete film, not a highlight reel.
Performance
Recorded theater, dance, comedy on stage, or live shows edited into a finished film — not random phone clips from the audience.
Family
Movies and series families can watch together and own. Clear stories; no trash-for-clicks kids content.
Local
Films rooted in a real place — a city, region, or community — finished to the same standard as everything else on the slate.

We don't take these
If it belongs on an endless upload schedule, it isn't for Theater1.
- Gaming streams and let's-plays
- Vlogs and day-in-the-life channels
