Curated, not algorithmic

Algorithms don't discover finished film. They rank whatever keeps the session alive. Theater1 uses a human door instead: curation, premieres, and shelves — no ranking engine to feed.

The discovery myth

Makers are told to 'get discovered' by shipping into a machine that cannot tell a completed film from tomorrow's clip.

What the machine actually does is allocate attention to whatever reduces bounce. Endings, patience, and local specificity are risks.

So 'discovery' becomes a second job: thumbnails, hooks, posting cadence — craft displaced by ranking maintenance.

Why algorithmic options fail finished work

Ranking engines punish silence between releases. Rest becomes demotion. A catalog that should earn while you recover gets buried for being quiet.

Recommendation theater also hides the cost: you don't own the relationship. Export the audience and the platform shrugs — the graph was never yours.

Feeds can be useful megaphones. They are terrible landlords for finished independent work.

What better looks like

Better is a curated door: humans choosing finished work, premieres with a time, rooms that close when credits roll.

Better means ownership after the drop, creators keeping 85%, fans in the credits, and relationships you can export any day.

No algorithm to game means no punishment for finishing. Discovery becomes invitation, not session farming.

What Theater1 is / isn't

Theater1 is a curated streaming home for finished independent work. It is not an algorithmic feed, not a growth hack surface, and not a place where ranking replaces taste.

We sell work, never attention. If you only make sense inside a scroll, you won't make sense here.

FAQ

Straight answers

How does discovery work on Theater1 without an algorithm?
Through curation, premieres, and ownership relationships — not through a ranking engine that rewards constant posting.
Will my film get buried if I don't post daily?
Not by design. Theater1 isn't built on an upload treadmill. Finished titles live on shelves; rest isn't a ranking risk.
Can I take my fans with me?
Yes. Fans are exportable — names, emails, history — because the relationship isn't rented from a recommendation graph.
Is curation just another gate?
It's a door for finished craft, not a prestige filter for heat. Done is required. Logo cosplay is not.
